The Story

Precision Chain Wear Measurement Made Easy

A worn chain can lead to poor shifting and costly drivetrain damage. The Park Tool CC-2 Chain Checker allows you to quickly and accurately measure chain wear (“stretch”) to know exactly when it’s time for a replacement. Simply insert the tool’s pins into two links, press the swing arm gauge, and read the measurement window for an instant result. Compatible with most single-speed and derailleur chains, including Shimano® XTR® 12-speed, it’s the smart way to extend your bike’s performance and lifespan.

  • 5-to-10 speed chains: replace chain at or just before 0.75%
  • 11-to-12 speed chains*: replace at or just before 0.5%
  • Single-speed chains: replace at or just before 1%
  • Check with manufacturer for specific replacement instructions

*Use the CC-4 for SRAM® Flattop™ and SRAM® T-Type 12-speed chains.
